A note from Karen and Tracey... We would like to take the time to thank you all for your continued support. Forms for fall registration are in and we are almost full. Thank you for all the kind words and referrals, we wouldn't be who we are today without all of you. We will open up to our waitlist on the 11th for the few spots we have remaining. We will be celebrating Easter this month as well as Passover in some classes. On Thursday, April 13th we will have our Annual Easter Egg Hunt with the children. This is always an exciting day at Four Seasons and we are looking forward to it. Just a reminder that we will be closed on Friday, April 14th and will remain closed through April 21st. NEW LUNCH DAY We will offer meatballs and pasta on Tuesdays starting in May. If you would like your child to try it to see if he or she likes it, we will be offering it on Tuesday, April 11th at no charge. Just email Tracey so she adds your child to the list. Your child's teacher will let you know if they liked it! Classroom News Infants Hello from the infant room. We are very happy that spring has finally showed up. We have been very busy growing and learning. The older infants have been enjoying painting with their hands and feet making pretty flower prints. With the warm weather approaching we will be going outside, so please make sure your child has a jacket and hat. Just a few reminders: Please make sure all bottles, sippy cups and food containers are labeled with your child's first and last name. Toddlers Spring is finally here! Bring on the good weather! For the month of April we have two key themes we are focusing on; springtime and Easter! Springtime will include a lot more weather orientated activities as well as a lot of outside artwork! We will also be learning more sign language and counting to 11! Easter will include decorating Easter egg baskets, talking about bunnies and talking about Easter as a holiday. We will also be having an Easter egg hunt on April 13th, the last day before vacation! Our color for the month is purple! Miss Beth Happy Spring everyone. This month in the three year old classroom we will be learning about spring, Easter, and Insects. We will be doing lots of hands on activities with themes such as baking, nature walks while collecting treasures, messy sensory bins and potting our own seeds. Our class is continuing to do an amazing job at earning links. Once the links have reached the ground, our class has decided on doing an ice-cream pajama day. The class has been very helpful to myself and their peers. If you see them being helpful at home give them a high five or a thumbs up, they love the praise and enjoy being helpful. Miss Christina has been doing a fabulous job this year with literacy and math activities. She always has something creative and the children love their mini lesson time with her. While Miss Christina continues to work with the class, morning work will cover all the items we have been learning. Such as cutting, tracing, rhyming, patterns, inference etc. This class has come a long way since September. I am very impressed with everyone's learning abilities and I am excited for their continued success. Have a lovely April and enjoy your vacation. Miss Dara Yay spring is finally here! Last month was a fun month and we learned a lot of dinosaur information. We learned so many big words like Paleontologist, Tyrannosaurus Rex and so many others. We made our very own fossils, too. This month we will be learning about dragons, Easter and Castles. We are now into reviewing all the letters and sounds of the letters until the end of the school year. The children are doing great at recognizing the letters and sounds. We are also writing the letters too. :-) Miss Christina (Beth and Dara's classes) For the months of April and May we will focus on concepts of print for language and literacy. Children will learn that both pictures and print have meaning, but the print is what is being read. They will see print all around them and we will incorporate environmental print in our lessons. We will continue learning one-to-one correspondence in math for April. Miss Rachel Pre-k is in full bloom this month! We were very happy to say GOOD-BYE to winter and HELLO to spring! The themes we will focus on this month are; weather, Easter and an author study on Bill Martin Jr. I have some wonderful crafts, songs, games and centers planned to correspond with our weekly themes. We will engage in some exciting hands on science projects each week, like making a rain cloud in a bottle during weather week. For literacy, we only have one more vowel left to learn and then we have finished learning about all the letters in the alphabet and their letter sounds! After learning about the letter U, we will begin consonant digraph Th and Ch. When we finish learning about all the letters in the alphabet, the students will begin working on writing words, sentences and stories using inventive spelling. Inventive spelling refers to a child’s attempt to sounding out the word and using their best judgement about spelling. As part of our Monday morning work the students will begin a weekend journal. In their journal they will draw a picture of something they did over the weekend and then write a sentence about it. The students are doing AWESOME with their sight words. The students get very excited to find out the new words every Monday at circle time. I will continue introducing a new sight word each week and reviewing previously learned ones. For math, we will begin a new unit on, counting to answer questions of “how many?” This unit focuses on their understanding of the relationship between numbers and quantities up to 10. The children will count to answer “how many?” questions using numbers 1-10. !
