A note from Karen and Tracey… Happy New Year! We hope you all had a wonderful Holiday and a very Happy New Year. We are looking forward to 2017 and excited for the upcoming months at Four Seasons Pre School! The month of January, the classrooms are very busy and all have exciting activities planned.
Our tuition software program is still having some technical difficulties. It was temporarily working and now has stopped again. We apologize for any multiple emails you receive or old invoices. It will be up and running by the end of this month! All tax statements will be sent by January 31st. Weather The snow is here and the children love playing in the yard! Please be sure your child has snow pants, boots, hats, and mittens so they can join in on the fun. All children do go outside when the weather allows, so please make sure they have everything they need in order to stay warm. All children also need a change of shoes so they aren’t wearing wet boots in the classroom. Classroom Update News for Miss Beth and Miss Dara’s Class: Miss Christina has been working on Math and Literacy plans for both Miss Beth and Miss Dara’s classrooms. She has a time each day that she visits the classrooms and does a mini lesson with the children followed by a small group activity. The children enjoy this time in the classroom and are enjoying the hands-on learning and games that Christina brings to the classrooms. Please be sure to read what Christina will be doing each month in the newsletter under your child’s class section. Library We have been incorporating STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) into our library activities (already part of our daily classroom learning as well!). This month the children will listen to and act out, “The Three Little Pigs”. They will work together to plan and create a house that will fit the three pigs but be strong enough that the wolf will not blow it down! The children will work together to discuss and draw their plan, create it with manipulatives, and test to see the outcome as well as ask many questions. Some classrooms have already started working on this and here are some pictures! Classroom News Infant We hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and the Christmas break. All of the infants look like they grew over the break! We will try to get outside during the day so please be sure to pack winter gear! Just a reminder: Please make sure you are signing in and out each day. Toddlers Happy New Year everyone! We are very happy to welcome our new friend Georgia to our toddler classroom! For the month of January we have two main themes; Mittens & more, and Story Time. For mittens & more, we will be learning about different kinds of weather with a strong focus on the winter and the snow. We will also be learning about what to wear during the cold winter months to stay warm. Our story time theme is all about types of good behavior when handling and/or reading books with a strong emphasis on listening skills. We also included a section to practice and learn more sign language. Our color that we are learning for the month is white! Looking forward to a great month!! Miss Beth Happy New Year everyone. I hope you all enjoyed the holidays. Here is what Miss Beth and Miss Christina's class will be doing… Our theme this month will be "Everything about Winter" which will include: Martin Luther King Jr. Day, arctic animals, and the author Jan Brett. We will be doing many hands on activities related to these themes throughout the month including science, literacy, baking and more. While we continue to progress with your child's math and literacy learning, here are the items we work on every day; numbers, shapes, Mat Man, question of the day, colors, spatial awareness, and critical thinking. Miss Dara Hope you all had a wonderful holiday break. Happy New Year! This month we will focus on Jan Brett, “The Mitten” as well as polar bears and penguins: where they live, what they eat, and more. We will also talk about Martin Luther king Jr. and how we can all get along and be friendly towards each other. The letters this month are: J, W, H, and M. The children are doing great with rhyming. We rhyme silly words and real words. If you have newspapers at home, please send them in for an activity. Miss Christina (For Miss Beth and Miss Dara's Class) This month for literacy, we will be continuing to build on our rhyming skills through hands-on games, stories, and songs. For math, we will continue to focus on classification, and move on to sequencing toward the end of the month! Miss Rachel Happy New Year!! Our themes will be; winter, artic animals, Martin Luther King Jr. and an author study on Jan Brett. I’ve planned some exciting crafts, centers and science experiments to go along with our themes. We will learn all about the letters L, R, Y and X. I will continue to review and reinforce previous learned letters with stories, centers, and writing activities. Please don’t forget we have Show and Tell every Thursday that corresponds with the letter of the week. For math this month we will be wrapping up the unit on counting to 5. This unit involves counting, number recognition, comparing numbers, sorting objects into categories and simple patterns. The students enjoy participating in our daily math activities. We will also continue practicing our number writing 1-10. I will be making some changes to our literacy/writing center this week. We will have a new word wall with vocabulary words we will learn each month. The students will have a variety of activities to help them recognize, read, and write the new vocabulary words. The center will also have different writing activities to help reinforce upper and lower case letters, letter sounds, and name writing. The children have been doing an awesome job with their weekly story writings! Make sure to check them out when you are in the classroom.
